Abortion Services – Funded
Abortion services are funded by Te Whatu Ora and free of charge at AMAC for healthcare eligible women who live in the geographical areas of Waitemata DHB, Auckland DHB and Counties Manukau DHB as specified by the NZ Public Health and Disability Act 2000.
The funded abortion package includes: –
- Pre-abortion consultation
- Laboratory orders
- Bedside dating scan in clinic – no formal report
- Counselling – up to two sessions, as desired, before or after
- Procedure and long-acting reversible contraception (delivered on the day or as per abortion pathway)
- Interpreters are included for funded patients (abortion services) – if required
In the event of a post abortion complication, it will be assessed by the prescribing healthcare professional at AMAC.
Women may choose to access some or all the recommended care, except laboratory testing which is requirement for all procedures.
Abortion Services – Out of Area & Private Patients
Abortion services can be provided privately to patients who are outside of the specified “Auckland region” or who are not eligible for funded treatment at the below costs. We will ask for evidence of residency, visa status or other qualifying factors to help clarify funding.
Long-acting reversible contraception on the day of procedure or after is a separate charge – refer to contraception costs.
